The sky is absolutely charged with powerful and significant aspects, starting with a Minor Grand Trine (Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) active in the heavens from 2025 through 2028. There’s also a Grand Water Trine (Saturn, Jupiter, Mercury, and Mars all in the Water Signs). The New Moon in Libra is opposing Chiron, squaring Jupiter and Pluto as well as forming a Yod with Uranus and Neptune. Wow.. it looks and feels complex, but let’s make it as simple as possible.

On October 21, we experience a New Moon in the last degree of Libra. This is a profoundly significant moment, not only for seeding new beginnings and fresh chapters in our lives (as with any New Moon), but also because being at the anaretic degree (29°) in Libra brings focus to endings, especially in the realms of alliances, partnerships, and relationships with others.

Interestingly, the previous New Moon in Virgo was also at 29°, and the next New Moon will occur in the late degrees of Scorpio. This creates a powerful three month sequence, a time of both closure and initiation. We are writing a new story while simultaneously ending a major chapter in each of these signs. (If you haven’t yet, read about the previous New Moon in Virgo for deeper context, and stay tuned for the upcoming Scorpio New Moon.)

Relational Themes and Emotional Growth

This New Moon in Libra offers us a fresh start and new understanding within our relationships. Feelings of inner lack or self-doubt may arise, prompting us to seek creative expression, broaden our perspective, and exchange ideas with others. It’s a time to step outside ourselves, widen our view of life, and allow connection to be our teacher.

It is important, however, to stay grounded, to translate these new insights into our values, creativity, and daily life, rather than getting carried away or losing ourselves in others. If we become overly absorbed in someone else’s world, we risk losing power and becoming dependent.

Libra digests experience slowly, often tempted by the illusion that “the grass is greener on the other side.”

Venus and the Art of Balance

Venus, ruler of Libra, is at home here, reminding us of balance, diplomacy, satisfaction, fairness, and harmony. This is the archetype of meeting opposites and finding the middle point of a swinging pendulum. It asks us to cultivate peace through conscious awareness, not avoidance.

New Moon Opposite Chiron in Aries

The opposition to Chiron in Aries may bring important questions to the surface within our relationship dynamics.

  • Do I have the right to exist as I am?

  • Do I have the willpower and choice to act authentically?

This configuration may stir old wounds from childhood, echoes of messages like “children should be seen, not heard.”  Such conditioning may have suppressed our spontaneity, initiative, or passion. Now, healing can begin through conscious acknowledgment and compassionate self-validation.

New Moon Square Jupiter in Cancer

The square to Jupiter in Cancer creates a creative tension that can expand our awareness of family patterns and generational wounds. Healing arises through nurturing, when we feel emotionally safe, when we nurture ourselves and others, and when we foster that same safety around us. However, it’s essential not to confuse compassion with dependency. True empathy supports freedom.

This aspect also heightens trust in our intuition, our inner “gut” knowing.

New Moon Square Pluto in Aquarius

Meanwhile, Pluto in Aquarius squaring the New Moon may evoke memories or feelings of being “outside” the community, especially if our ideas once clashed with collective norms. Now moving direct, Pluto, lord of the underworld and transformation, brings tremendous power for liberation: moving from control to freedom, from conformity to authenticity. This may come through disruption, rebellion, or deep inner revolution, yet always with the goal of innovation and renewal. This final square between the Sun and Pluto asks us to discern what must live and what must die.

Mars–Mercury Conjunction in Scorpio (Part of the Water Trine)

With Mars conjunct Mercury in Scorpio, forming part of the Grand Water Trine with Jupiter and Saturn, we are supported to speak our truth with emotional intelligence and courage. This energy can reveal what has been hidden or taboo, our resources, attachments, fears, and even our relationship with death or transformation itself.

It’s time to release anything we’ve held onto too tightly. Instead of fighting battles that drain our life force, we can consciously choose to let go. Practice small endings, as Black Moon Lilith whispers, these gentle releases create space for empowerment and rebirth.

 In Essence

This New Moon in Libra reminds us that balance is an art of evolution. As endings and beginnings intertwine, we are invited to heal relational wounds, release dependency, and rediscover harmony, both within ourselves and in the spaces we share with others.

This could be a decision time between stay with what I know and feel safe with or begin my journey into the world to find something new. Whichever path you choose Libra is here to reminds us that balance is necessary.

Through honest reflection, clear communication, and courageous openness, we align with Venus’s higher octave, the beauty of equality, authenticity, and love that liberates.
